Changing plans.

I am a planner, I live by that little day planner that sits neatly to my right all day long at work and conveniently slips into my purse to accompany me while I am away from the office. This calender is in ways similar to the Weight Watchen Blog for Roni , should it ever be lost I would seriously cry, some might say I would go MAD! Even though most of the information I keep in there is useless to anyone else, it talks novels to me. Small symbols I have used for years tell me when to work out, when to WI, birthdays, anniversaries, memories and future responsibilities. I think my obsession with planning started while I was a freshman in college. This is the year I sold my time to Mary Kay, yes I wanted to get me one of those pink Cadillacs! Long story short the one great thing I learned from my MK experience was that planning and goal setting was key to success. Every night I wrote down 6 things I needed to accomplish the next day as well as planned my day (with colors!) including study time, personal time, MK time, work time, etc... It was a scary but very organized time in my life. Although I am not quite as dependant on my day planner these days it is still filled with notes, lists, goals, dates, etc...

So why you ask am I telling you about this?!? Well, if I flip back to Monday, August 20th, 2007 I see several things, the number 4 (countdown to the big walk) a small stick figure with the number 6 (meaning run 6 miles), the number 24 with a star around it (the number of points I had planned for the day), several appointments during the day and 7:10 - Twins Game!! (written in green to represent personal time). I'm getting to my point, which is NONE of this HAPPENED! Yep, my entire day was a wash yesterday. I ended up getting slammed with a huge change order first thing in the morning which kept me from making any of the meetings during the day. I got home late with a headache and threw on my game wear. Derek wasn't home so I called to find out he was picking his sister up and she was running late. Knowing we were trying to make a 7:10 game across town, she NEEDED him to drive her to pick up her prescription at 6:30 making them get back to my house at 7. I had planned on making dinner at the house and that was out of the question since we would be late already. Then she told me her PLAN "yea, I decided that instead of the Twins game you guys should bring me to REI to get a sleeping bag and we should go OUT for dinner"...WHAT??? Who asked you? I have my night planned out and I am already off of my schedule! Since I feel obligated to be nice, I said whatever and we did exactly what she wanted. Now, I am not usually the type that gets upset about changing plans (okay, yes, yes I am) but seriously, we had $20 tickets to a game and I had rushed out of work to get home in time to cook her dinner and get to the game.

Argg...I was a little upset last night. Also, since I had planned on making dinner at home I had left just enough points for my dinner, I ate over my points and didn't get my run in. Luckily I have been tracking and according to my log I still have 13 FPs left after last night and I don't think that is horrible.

So tomorrow is WI so today is my final day to accomplish my goals, here they are:
* Follow the Wendie plan for a second week. Day 6, about 3 points over.
* Eat 5 servings fruit and veggies EVERYDAY! I ate about 10 servings!
* Drink 100 oz. of water daily. I probably just barely got them, I fell asleep before finishing the last glass that would bring me to 106.
* Get in at least 1 activity point everyday. Well, I didn't get my workout in but I did get up and get out, so it was better then just sitting at home on my butt!
* Get in at least 4 long walks or runs (6-12 miles). 3 walks down. I need to get number 4 in tonight!
* Use any APs earned above 4 in a day.

Mondays Menu:

I totally feel you - I'm such a planner and I really get my panties in a wad when things don't go the way I've planned for them to!

I hope today is a better day for you!

I feel you too--I'm a planner too. Maybe not as detailed as you, but I like to plan and have things go the way I plan them to go. You didn't do horrible with the curve ball you were thrown so that is a huge accomplishment!

3 MORE DAYS!!! :)

I totally hear you about the planning thing. Although I am totally jealous of your daily planner. I have been looking for a new one for quite a while. Do you mind if I ask what brand you have found that works best for you?

@Lacey, I use the Franklin Covey Weekly Planner. I use to print my own planners but I am really use to the weekly layout now. It's different for everyone!

I love your organization and can only dream of being so organized. I've tried and it never works for me. I'm totally jealous.

As for your SIL, she's luck you were so nice. I would NOT have let her get her way at all. Hope you had a good night after all.
