Vegas

I finally got a few of the Vegas pictures back and decided I should post them. The first is a picture of Kim and I on the last day in Vegas (we are in the airport). Kim and I bought the same shirt and decided to tell people we were twins when they pointed out we matched.

The second picture is the entire group (+ 1 unknown drunk guy). This was after a day of walking around in the hot Nevada heat. I am in the back (furthest right). What a fun trip!

I feel smaller...

I don't know what it is about running for me, but when I am running 4-5 days a week I just feel smaller. I feel like the "flab" is lean and under control. It is a total mind thing, but I love it. Lately this has felt like enough motivation to keep me on the treadmill, well that and I rented season 1 and 2 of Brothers and Sisters to watch while I run. I just finished season 2 on Monday and season 3 DVD doesn't get released until September. I need a new show to watch while I run, something that will get me hooked and want to come back to watch it every night...any ideas?

Can I reach those goals

So I had my first training session with my BodyBugg Coach last night, I actually learned a few tricks for navigating the website and I am excited about seeing results. I am frustrated with some of his ideas though. Currently I had my goals set at burning 2150 calories each day and consuming 1400, that is a 750 calorie deficit each day or 1.5 lbs/week. Included in this goal was activity time of 1 hour each day and 10,000 steps taken. I have been working hard to exceed these each day, I plug in at least 40 minutes on the treadmill each day and take small walks around the office far more then necessary to do my job. Since I have been meeting these goals my coach suggested I try to increase them so it is more of a "challenge". At the time it seemed to make sense, how else do I increase my metabolism. But I already feel challenged and burned out by the end of the day with my current goals. I guess I am a little discouraged that he doesn't think I am doing enough.
His suggestion was to burn 2450 calories a day and take 13,000 steps. This also would include bumping my activity level up to 2.5 hours each day. I get why I need to challenge myself, but it seems to me that by setting my goals this high I am setting myself up to fail which will only discourage me from the real task at hand.
I think for now I am going to continue to try and reach my original goals, when that becomes routine I will keep these new numbers to plug in and create a new challenge to work towards.
Tomorrow is WI day, I have been up and down the same couple of lbs the past few days so hopefully I like what I see on the scale tomorrow.

Happy 3rd Birthday Rosie!

I can't believe my niece is 3 already! I remember when I started this blog she was only 7 months old, wow time flies!

Since my sister is going through a divorce and her MIL used to make all the birthday cakes I decided I would offer to help out this year. Rosie wanted a Blue Barbie Princess Cake...here is what I came up with...

Rosie making a wish and blowing out her candle!

I had to make 5 layers in order for it to be tall enough!

Rosie loved the cake and all of her presents too! Uncle D and I got her a barbie doll convertible and 2 barbie dolls. It's funny how much she is like my sister and I when we were growing up! Loved our Barbies.

On the weight loss front, things are going okay. Derek and I are officially thinking about TTC and that is completely overwhelming for me. I have been to the fertility doctor 3 times and all they do is take blood and tell me to wait. I have mixed feelings when it comes to my current weight, I can loose it now and hopefully have less to loose after pregnancy or I can wait and loose it after the pregnancy. It is only about 12 lbs, so either way I am not jeopardizing the pregnancy...I guess that is what should count!

You gain a little and you loose a little in Vegas!

Okay, I know what you are thinking, I gambled away my money and ate my weight back on! Nope, just the opposite, after 5 days in Vegas I came home with an extra $12 and minus 1lb! Woohoo...that is my kind of vacation!
The trip was amazing. Nine girlfriends relaxing and living it up, what could be a better vacation?!? We did take pictures and I will post as soon as I have time.

"What is that?"

...seems to be the question of the week. I have been contemplating purchasing a Bodybugg for a few months and finally decided it was something that would really keep me motivated. I am a numbers person...I love counting calories and calculating percentages and this just made sense for what works for me. The bodybugg is a small box that you wear on your left tricep, it calculates calories you burn by the temperature of your skin. You can then upload your daily results to your computer and track calories consumed in an easy to use web application (similar to WW online). The program basically calculates how much of a calorie deficit you need in order to loose/maintain or gain weight. I LOVE IT! The only down side is that they are not waterproof so I can't wear it swimming.
I have been wearing mine for 2 days now and I barely notice that it is on. I have set a goal to have a 600-750 calorie deficit every day...this should equal out to be about 1.5 lbs./week. Getting me to my goal of loosing 18 lbs. by the end of September...we will see how it goes!
I have not been updating much because I have been dealing with a lot of changes in the past few months. I hope that I will start to see my results, even if they are small.
I leave for Vegas on Friday...I am scared that this will throw me off the wagon so I am hoping my new bugg will help me stay on track. We will not be staying on the strip and making most of our meals in the condo, I just need to limit treats and drinks. I am going a day early with one of the girls to stock the house and I have all intentions of grabbing fresh fruit and veggies to keep myself from dipping into the chips and chocolate that I know will be around. I read up on the resort and it sounds like they have 5 pools and a fitness center, hopefully I can take advantage of the nice weather there and spend some time in both each day!
