Lurcking

I am lurcking around today! I am finally back to work today (1/2 days) so I feel like things are a bit more normal! I can't believe I have been MIA for 2 weeks now! So if you have been following I first experienced this horrible pain on Monday 1/28/08 during the middle of the night. I woke up in pain feeling like I was going to pass out or puke. I managed to get through it though and made it into Urgent Care on 1/30/08 when the pain didn't go away. I didn't realize that the Urgent Care I went to hired idiot doctors and I was told that it was probably just cramps. The doctor ordered a CT scan anyways and we eliminated Kidney Stones and Kidney infection.
Thursday I was STILL in pain and now I could tell that it was mostly on my right side. I went into my regular physician on Friday, 2/1/08 and had blood work done to see if it might be my appendix, again NO! The doctor thought it could possibly be a muscle tear since I have been lifting a lot lately but wanted me to take it easy and come back if the pain didn't get better!
Well, I managed through the weekend, in pain, feeling like I was going to vomit evertime I ate and all together just feeling like crap! Monday I went to work, met up with a classmate to do some homework, headed home and went to bed with a heat pad on my back. I felt okay until about 2:00 am when I woke up swallowing hard and sweating. I was vomiting from both ends before I even sat down on the toilet (sorry TMI). I threw up for about 20 minutes straight and Derek was dressed and had clothes on to go to the E.R. before I even had a chance to think about what was going on. We went into the ER and they immediatly put me on morphine becuase I was in tears my back and stomach hurt so badly. They took a Prego test, blood work and finally an UltraSound!!! FINALLY, becuase this is what we needed from the very beginning!!! The Ultrasound would have shown them if my appendix, kidneys or GALL BLADDER where infected or had any stones!!!! ARGH!!! So one week after all of the pain started I finally get somewhere.
I was released from the ER and directed to make an appointment with a surgeon immediatly. Appearantly in medical world 3 weeks of pain and missery is very little!!! I was told that it was a miracle I got into surgery that quick and that most people wait months-years before getting in. I guess I am LUCKY?!?
So anyways, I spent the rest of that week eating jello and drinking all the apple juoce I wanted. Talk about gut rot!! On Friday morning I went in for surgery! My Daddy brought me and I tried to be a big girl but I was so FREAKIN scared! I started bawling everytime one of the doctors would talk to me. Theyhad to put me out before I went into the OR room becuase I was shacking and getting so worked up. I woke up in the most pain I think I have ever been in and not knowing how I had gotten where I was or in the gown I was now wearing!!! The only thing I could mutter was "pain" "wheres Dad?". The nurse quickly brought me some pain meds and called my Dad back to sit with me. I have no idea how long I sat in recovery, it felt like hours. When they finally got me dressed and ready to go home I was so dizzy and tired that I passed out in the wheelchair, next thing I knew I was at home and my Dad and Derek were trying to get me into my bed. That didn't work so I was nested on the couch propped up with pillows and blankets. I slept a lot for the next 3 days only waking up long enough to eat some crackers or Jello and take more meds. The rest of the week I spent mostly on the couch being taken care of by an assortment of friends and family. I ate a lot of Mac & Cheese and mashed potatoes. Watched a lot of TV, read a fabulous novel, contemplated retirement!
I am still on restrictions as far as movement and lifting. I was suprised by how much 5 lbs. limits me. Kind of leaves you feeling helpless. I can't lift the detergent bottle up to do laundry, grab the vacuum to clean up a quick mess, grab a gallon of milk at the store without a cart, pick up my sweet Rosie!!!!! My family went together and set up a cleaning service to come to my house this Thursday since I will be unable to vacuum or mop the floors for a few weeks. It was a really thoughtful gift and I so appreciate the thinking that went into that!!
That should catch you up to today, I think!! I am up and about, driving (no more then 15 minutes), oh, and how could I forget to mention....I AM AT GOAL WEIGHT!!!!!

WOW!!! Sounds like quite an ordeal!! I am so very glad you are doing OK. I have been thinking about you and wondering about you.

And kudos to your family for getting a cleaning service. That's AWESOME!!!! I hope you are back to 100% SOON!!

My step mom NEEDS her gallbladder taken out b/c when it flares up she is in so much pain for days, but she won't get it done so she lives through the pain. I have no idea how she does it, but she does. Your gallbladder could burst just like your appendix can and that can be VERY serious. I'm so glad you got yours taken care of!

So glad to hear that you are feeling better! Take care of yourself and take it easy even if you think you are feeling fine, listen to your doctors and take the time to let your body heal. I know it's tough but I speak from experience, pushing youself before you're ready can cause major setbacks. It sounds like you have a great support system in Derek, your dad and the rest of your family.
You'll be back to your old self in no time.

And YAY for hitting goal!!!! :)

I love creative gifts.. a cleaning service is such a great idea!

I'm glad that you are back among the living. I too have been thinking about you.

And BIG YAHOO for reaching your goal weight.. Sucks that you had to go thru what you did to get there. I pray for a 100% recovery for you!

Oh my gosh, I'm glad you're doing better! Definitely pay attention to the doctors when it comes to lifting - hurting yourself would be bad news. We don't want you to have to go through more pain and surgeries.

Congrats for hitting goal!
