Well I finally sat down last night and looked back at the last year. I don't remember setting new years goals but I do remember telling myself I was going to start watching what I ate and make it a point to get off my butt at night! I joined weight watchers online on my birthday (January 17th, 2007) and slowly started to see the pounds drop off. It was slow but it was working.
In February I said goodbye to my grandfather and I temporarily got off the WW wagon. Within two weeks I had put on about 1-2 pounds of the 10 pounds I had lost. We went on a short vacation and by the time I got back home I was back to tracking and the scale started to move down again. In March, two of my best friends and I decided we wanted to make our mark in the fight against cancer. Each of us had been affected in some way by the disease and we each felt the need to make a stand. We signed up to walk 60 miles and raise at least $7,000 to fight breast cancer.
I took the challenge seriously and in May when I reached my 10% goal in WW I started training nightly for the walk. I walked/ran 5-10 miles everyday. Over the next few months my weight loss stayed the same. I was still OP but the scale would not budge. On August 24, 2007 we set off on our first 20 miles. The following two days included many hills, sleepless nights and sore muscles. At the finish line I was surprised to find Derek down on one knee and all my family their to cheer us on!
School started back up in September and the scale finally started to move once my training slowed down. I finally lost the final 6 pounds and saw my original goal for the first time in November.
I experienced many emotions over 2007, some I would like to trade in others I would never give back. I have learned so much about myself, my strength, my passion, my fears, my faults, but most of all my ability to make a difference.
Well, enough looking at the past...I can't wait for what's to come!!
